“When I walked through the doors of the Meisner Center for orientation, I had already given myself an out. “If it doesn’t work, I can leave after a month.” What made me stay was discovering that it’s a discipline, a training, an unlearning of habits I had picked up over the years.

I’ve lost count of the different acting classes I’ve taken, whether scene study, monologues, or even “be a teapot.” Meisner training has equipped me with a clear, precise set of tools.

Is it easy? No. The most challenging part has been taking a chisel over the past year to break apart my ideas and misconceptions of what I thought acting should look like. Because we build on what we’ve learned as we progress, I have gradually gained confidence in my work. I’m no longer worried about whether I’ll “get” it. I just listen and apply what I’ve learned. Now, Meisner lives inside me. I owe it to myself to approach every script the way I was taught. That level of accountability has carried over into my life outside of acting. There is no doubt that Meisner is transformative if you give yourself the opportunity to strive for it.”

“My training with the Meisner technique has been an absolute journey, and I’ve gained so much confidence in both my professional and personal life. Learning to truly listen and answer has helped me stay present and respond truthfully, not just react by being affected by what my partner is saying.

Even with a master’s degree in Acting for Film and TV, this training pushed me further. I learned to always have an opinion in every situation and to deal with it truthfully, whether it’s pretty or ugly.

At times it felt uncomfortable, but those moments broke down barriers and allowed me to discover new parts of myself.

One of the biggest breakthroughs for me was emotional preparation. It opened the door for me to start a scene alive and ready to take off, instead of coming in cold or stuck thinking about what happened before. I also discovered how essential the fundamentals are: listening and answering, discipline and commitment, embracing the unknown, and working with others.

The memorization technique gave me more freedom to play, explore options, and make present-moment choices, which led to magical experiences I’d never felt before.

The journey wasn’t always smooth, there were moments I felt discouraged or frustrated. But I carried with me a reminder from the studio wall: “Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.” With that in mind, I know these lessons and tools will stay with me for the rest of my career.”

“I cannot recommend the Meisner technique enough. I made the decision to study at The Sanford Meisner Center on an endorsement of a friend and desire to hone my artistic expression. Meisner did just that. In just the first year I saw incomparable gains in my ability, my artistic life and even my inner world. The experimental nature of the technique has reinforced a discipline alongside a freedom that has enabled me to achieve milestones that I assumed would be much further away.

This program is unlike any other in that it requires those to participate to confront the nonchalant attitude that’s held tightly, on a deep level, that prevents you from wholeheartedly committing to your craft. The work done within Meisner is invaluable and will set you apart from a sea of people who are waiting for something to happen. You will be doing. You will be set up with the tools you need to make your dream a reality.”

Wow. What a start to this experience. I am thrilled to share my extraordinary first-year journey with the Meisner Technique, an experience that will forever hold a special place in my heart. I truly grasped the essence of acting as a genuine embodiment of life itself. The concept of living in the moment, embracing true expression, and the power of each fleeting instant clicked for me in a way that I had never experienced. As a creative, I have undergone immense growth, enhanced my auditioning skills, my ability to take direction, and my commitment to truthfulness in performance.

Led by Ranjiv’s exceptional guidance I can confidently say that my experience at the Meisner Center has been life changing. Compared to other acting classes I’ve taken, Ranjiv provided structure, a solid foundation, and mentorship in a way that exceeds any other experiences I’ve had. Coming from an athletic background, the program’s methodology perfectly aligned with my sensibilities. Not only did we receive the expertise of a dedicated teacher who ardently loves the craft, but also someone who tailors their guidance to the individual needs of each student, recognizing and nurturing our unique qualities.

There were moments of self-doubt when I contemplated giving up, but deep down, I knew that I needed this work, this art. The program helped me affirm my passion and strengthen my commitment to the craft. My confidence as an actor has grown, not merely due to a sense of personal improvement, but because I have begun to open myself up to endless possibilities of exploration and self-discovery. Ranjiv, I am extremely grateful for the exhilarating first year you provided, and I eagerly anticipate the remarkable future that lies ahead.

“I had no prior acting experience before studying the Meisner Technique, but was introduced to it by a friend. After doing my own research, I felt this was the program I needed to have as the foundation for my acting journey. Before starting this program, I thought I had a grasp of what acting was as an avid watcher of television and movies, but I had no idea. From studying this technique I learned more about myself more than anything, which is not surprising because our definition of acting is to live truthfully under the given imaginary circumstances. In order to live truthfully, you have to first know who you are as a person. Now that I have graduated, I am no longer the same artist, let alone person I was when I first started learning the Meisner technique. This foundation will carry me throughout my career as an actor, but more importantly throughout my non artistic life. To be able to know yourself and be comfortable in your truths is something that not everyone has the privilege of learning. I am grateful this program only solidified that acting is what I need to be doing and I will achieve my goals no matter what.”

As an actor in Austin, Texas, I took many acting classes, courses, and private coaching sessions, but I became frustrated with feeling like I wasn’t progressing. With every class I took I felt like I was starting from the beginning. I realized I didn’t have a foundation and I wanted to find a program that would teach me a structured acting approach that I could develop skills from.

One day, a friend of mine helped me set up a meeting with a Los Angeles actress that had a decade of professional experience. I asked her about where I could find great quality training and she recommended me to The Sanford Meisner Center.

After graduating from the Professional Acting Certificate Program a year and a half later I could not be more satisfied with my training. This program was exactly the professional training I was looking for. I was able to develop skills that I can use to prepare for any role and I’ve learned how to practice elements of acting that seemed impossible for me previously. Ranjiv constantly pushed me to realize my own potential, and helped me discover many different aspects of humanity, interaction and myself. I enjoyed the many opportunities to work with my classmates and it felt great learning together.”

“The first year of training and learning the fundamentals was an amazing journey of discovery, both artistically and non-artistically. It taught me to delve deep inside myself and connect with my true feelings without fear of judgement.

While all the steps in the fundamental training are equally important, for me, the emotional preparation training had the most significant impact. Not only did It give me the confidence to start a scene or play from a condition of emotional aliveness, but non-artistically, it was therapeutic. I have grown as an artist and as a human being.

For anyone seeking the necessary skills to perform from a place of truthfulness (rather than performative), this training is essential.”

“I’m really grateful for finding The Sanford Meisner Center and the growth I’ve experienced in the first year. The work has been tough but extremely rewarding and worth every second of it. I really had to push myself in ways that I thought would be impossible for me, but through overcoming those moments, I found a new sense of confidence and power in myself that I didn’t feel before. The person I am now compared to the person I was when I started is so much more full of energy and vigor and emotional freedom that it excites me to think about how much more growth there is to be experienced in the second year.

Prior to this training, I had taken other acting classes in LA focused more on “scene study” or “on-camera technique” and would always feel like I had hit a block where I couldn’t access the deeper well of emotions from within me, no matter how many “tips and tricks” I used to get there. After taking this class, I now understand that my whole approach to the work before this was misguided and not serving me. This class, and the instructor, Ranjiv Perera, helped open up a whole new world of emotional depth and sincerity and truthfulness in my work as an actor that completely shifted not only the way I show up as an actor and artist, but also as a human being navigating through all the complexities of life. It’s pushed me to raise the standard in myself for the level of commitment and focus that this work demands. My stakes are much higher, the need is much stronger. It’s become a devotion to the craft.

The work that we do here at The Sanford Meisner Center is life-altering and I do not use any of those words lightly. If you really put the work in and open up your heart to be vulnerable and emotionally open, there is no way you will go through this training and not come out of it so much more evolved in your craft and artistry.”

“The decision to take this class was among the best I’ve made for myself in a long time. The program was rigorous, intense, and immensely gratifying. I have the tendency to overanalyze everything, and this program not only highlighted that as something I need to work on, but taught me why and how. This program helped me better understand the craft and myself as a person. It helped me to connect with the deep, primal parts of myself that are so integral to being truthful.

My experience with Ranjiv was excellent. He is truly passionate about the Meisner Technique, and strives to teach it without alteration. The expectations for this class are high but crystal clear. Most any question of “how” is answered with “do the work”. As someone who got away with writing essays during lunch in high school because I procrastinated or forgot, I had to practice immense discipline. Ranjiv is absolutely able to tell if any work required outside of class was not done with your best effort. Highly recommend this class for anyone willing to put in the work and emerge as a more disciplined, professional, and truthful actor.”

“As a working actor with classroom experience, I thought I knew what acting was and what to expect from my first year at the Sanford Meisner Center.

I was wrong.

One of the many things that I’ve learned from my time during my first year in the program is the fact that it takes daily practice to achieve greatness. Many other acting schools will introduce you to the fundamentals of acting but Sanford Meisner Center is a unique studio that teaches clear, layered, and actionable lessons. Meisner Technique works. Following my Meisner training allows me to take the pressure of a great performance off of my shoulders. Methodic application of the steps that I was trained in leads to a great performance each and every time.

My instructor, Ranjiv Perera, can read each and every student as if they were an open book. He can diagnose acting issues as they come up within the context of who you are and where you are in your training. Ranjiv is a mentor who guides his students toward immense growth and pushes them to excel as artists. In addition to teaching the principals of the Meisner Technique, Ranjiv trains his students to become better artists whose minds are actually capable of understanding and applying the Technique in any given situation. Each class is structured and organized according to a program of study that builds layers of acting knowledge within a disciplined approach to the artistic practice.

The two-year Sanford Meisner Program is challenging. If you do not “need” to become the best actor you can be, if you are unable or unwilling to make the commitment to a rigorous course of study, then this is not the place for you.
But if you are a person who wants to push themselves to learn how to live a life dedicated to a disciplined approach to the daily art of acting, then I can not think of no better place than the Sanford Meisner Center.”

“Rigorous, uncompromising, and transformative, the acting conservatory program at the Sanford Meisner Center will challenge you in ways you cannot anticipate and build acting capabilities you did not imagine possible. I came into the program as a complete beginner with no acting experience and only a faint sense of my potential as an actor. I developed instincts and creative abilities I never knew I possessed. More unexpectedly, I learned to meet myself with greater honesty, curiosity, and courage. The transformation extended far beyond the work itself. Having completed a medical degree before coming to the Sanford Meisner Center, I was surprised to find this program every bit as exacting. Instead of mastering anatomy and physiology, I was asked to know myself, my scene partner, and the characters we played with the same depth, precision, and commitment. Here, the subject of study was the full breadth of human experience, approached with curiosity, respect, and care. If you are looking for an easy introduction to acting, this is not it. To study here demands surrender, discipline, vulnerability, humility, and a willingness to fail repeatedly. No shortcuts are offered. Every class asks more of you than the last. If you are willing to sit in discomfort, work relentlessly, and commit fully to the process, this program will offer far more than technique: it will transform the way you think about the craft, unlock your imagination, and reveal possibilities within yourself you never knew existed.”

“This class was a surprising and transformative experience. As someone with a limited acting background, I came in with different expectations—but what I got was real growth, driven by hard work and honest, direct feedback from Ranjiv. The supportive community of classmates also made the challenging process rewarding. This class isn’t for the faint of heart—there’s no sugarcoating, only truth that pushes you beyond your comfort zone. It’s designed to build a grounded, truthful actor from the inside out. After completing the first year, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of acting—far beyond what most beginner classes offer. I now have more confidence, a stronger grasp of the craft, and tools to keep growing. This course has left me excited and motivated to continue my journey as an actor.”

“The experience I’ve had training with Ranjiv has been unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. I have never felt more confident in my own artistic abilities and my place as an actress in this industry than after having completed these 2 years of training. Ranjiv has not only taught me everything I know about acting that’s integral to the work I wish to do in my career, but I’ve witnessed first-hand how his teaching of the Meisner technique meets every student where they are and brings out each person’s individual potential as an artist. I’ve experienced environments and heard stories of teachers and programs molding a “certain type” of actor, but my experience at the Sanford Meisner Center has shown me just how unique everyone’s artistry truly is, especially my own.

After graduating, this studio has turned into a real artistic home for me to keep me inspired, remind me where I started, and remind me why I do what I do. I am so grateful to have allowed my artistry to be shaped by the hands of a teacher and studio as wonderful as Ranjiv at the Sanford Meisner Center. This is an experience that I will never take for granted, and one that has equipped me with everything I need to tackle all of the challenges that come my way on my continued journey as a working actress.”

“There are no words to describe how grateful I am to Ranjiv and for this technique. I’ve been shown, taught and have put into action the skills and abilities that I craved and needed. Everyone’s journey is different. The key is to stop listening to your head and to follow your internal instinct. I felt that I was a cookie cutter actress before and though I knew I had more to give, I did not know at the time how to let go and affect others. I’ve never been more confident with not only my work but also who I am as an artist. Every artist has their unique things to bring to the table. I wasn’t always willing or wanting to share them. However, learning and creating in this safe environment, teaches you that it’s okay. You pull things out of you that you didn’t know you were capable of and it’s the most powerful feeling. For me, it could only be described as a release. I’d recommend this program to anybody that NEEDS it and is on a journey to taking their art to the next level. You won’t regret it.”

“Answer your partner’s behavior, not the text! To him…through him… about him. You don’t play a scene, you play your partner.” At that moment, hearing Ranjiv say this made the art of acting so much more clear to me. Before I became a Sanford Meisner Center graduate, I did not feel like I could call myself an actor. The dedication it takes to learn this craft is something I will always acknowledge and respect. Ranjiv is filled with so much passion & love for the art of acting and The Sanford Meisner technique. One of my biggest takeaways from Meisner was, “not to do anything until something happens to make you do it. And what you do doesn’t depend upon you, it depends on the other partner”. To keep my attention placed on my partner was a skill to be learned. I’ve learned new things about myself during this journey and when the program came to an end I left calling myself an actor”

“This program truly changed my life. And it’s a very loud statement, so let me explain: Before getting into Meisner, I’ve tried couple different classes, where I’ve learnt something, but I didn’t quite know what it was. The feedback of the teachers was forgotten after couple weeks. However, this program is different. You’ll be learning the technique from A to Z, meaning that you’ll start with fundamentals and slowly progress.

After completing the first year, you’re going to flourish artistically and in day to day life like never before. This program is going to change you in the best way possible. It is very intense, but it’s so worth it.”

“My experience with The Sanford Meisner Center and with Ranjiv Perera as our leader, teacher and guide has been incredibly transformative… better said, life-altering. I AM changed. You see, I used to act when I was “acting” or I’d try to act. But then Ranjiv taught me to “do” to “be”—to live truthfully under the given imaginary circumstances—rather than to “act.” Not only did he give me the tools to be an extraordinary actor, but Ranjiv taught me how to wield those tools as a skilled progressional when applying my craft. What’s more, his tutelage and training helped me to become a better man, father, husband and friend. I AM more knowledgeable now than I’ve ever been about the business of acting, as well as the craft of acting. One of my greatest abilities I’ve developed is emotional freedom—something I never thought I’d have (until Ranjiv helped me to explore it). Coupled with incredible access to my imagination (another ability Ranjiv helped me to develop) I no longer have to think, I just do! I just AM! I AM free! I love acting more than I ever have! And I’m immensely fulfilled when I get to “play” and live and be free when I’m doing my “work.” I AM extraordinarily grateful for the privilege to have the opportunity to learn from someone who holds in the highest of regard the traditions of the Meisner Technique, and who teaches with an insatiable love for the craft, incredible patience and an unyielding zeal to help me to grow as an artist. This is the greatest decision I’ve ever made. Humbly, I say I’m a man of many achievements but this is the greatest thing I’ve ever done… for me!”

“Completing the two year program is a lifetime achievement. This program taught me to dive into my imagination, discover new depths, and use everything I’ve got to give everything I got no matter what the circumstance may be. It demanded hard work and dedication that brought out self-confidence and an ownership of my power. I like that this program has a clear beginning and end compared to ongoing classes. I’m beyond grateful, and consider myself extraordinarily lucky, to be able to work with Ranjiv and Martin. I’ll carry everything I learned from them with me for the rest of my life.”

“The time I spent training at The Sanford Meisner Center is a time in my life that I will look back on and cherish forever. This program truly changed everything for me. It changed the way I interact with the world around me and the people in it. At the start of my journey, acting was little more than a pipe dream that I had no idea how to make a reality. But now, as a graduate, that is a very different story. Through two years of hard work, I have developed a confidence, not only in my abilities in acting but also in myself as a person outside of acting. This was my first acting class so I don’t have anything to compare it to but in two years this program transformed me from someone who would get anxiety sweats and fumble my words to now, trusting in the work that I put in at the Meisner Center and knowing that I can go into any acting situation and produce, doing the work that I now know how to do, that I am proud to do. The Sanford Meisner Center has given me so much over the years. Not only was I given the opportunity to develop as an artist and a person in ways I never thought possible; but I also became part of a community of people who have the same dream as I do and that might be the best part. For these things I have only The Sanford Meisner Center to thank, I am so grateful for them and for so much more that I can’t say. Now that this journey is over, I look back and know that it was all worth it.”

The thought was clear: “This is what I need to do for the rest of my life.” I was exhaling the high of a curtain call for the first time in my life, months before I even learned of the name Meisner. This wasn’t a dream; I was in love. I needed to act more than I needed my next breath. Where do you go from there, though? An education was in order. I tried several schools and classes all over Los Angeles, but none of them stuck with me. None of the programs I tried had the intensity, discipline, or sense of progression I knew was necessary to push and grow at the craft. I arrived at acting as an engineer at NASA with undergrad and master’s degrees; I might not have known what exactly the art of acting consisted of, but I had a solid grasp of what a good education was. The Meisner Center has quality in spades. Over two years, I was tested, challenged, and compassionately held in the uncomfortable pastures where true growth lies. Coming out of the program as a proud graduate, I had something I couldn’t fathom before: poise. Not just in acting, but in the way I held myself. This program left me feeling that I was indeed well set up to act on my thoughts and do this for the rest of my life.

The Meisner Center one of the few places I’ve experienced where the need to act isn’t addressed or encouraged throughout the class because it’s the baseline needed to get in the door. You and your peers in class all hold the same need from Day 1. It’s as serious as it is joyful and fulfilling. The commitment wasn’t intimidating but a welcome challenge. Do I really need this? You’ll find out very, very quickly. The first year is all about laying you bare and stripping you down to raw humanity. Meisner reaches inwards and teaches you about yourself and in the first stages of the program, you learn to first perceive the world around you, then eliminate the fog between what you should feel and what you actually feel, and finally put the two together and respond to the world. From these steps and a few others, you leave the first year much more in tune with yourself; more honest with what you’re about. The second year is all about taking that raw material and refining it, shaping it into artistic expression. You take what you’re capable of feeling and doing and casting them in different lights, interpreting texts and bringing yourself to each role, and ultimately creating things that are intrinsically yours. There is no cheap tips and tricks here on the secret of auditions or winning over roles; the Meisner Center teaches you how to start creating your own art in acting. Ranjiv is a skillful craftsman and artist himself and will give you the time, space, and initiative needed to make strides in your own work. I can’t thank Ranjiv and the Meisner Center enough; my first big break wasn’t a role, but being able to spend a part of my life here.”

“The first year was challenging, and sometimes I questioned if this was the right path for me, but I learned a lot about myself as an artist and a human being. This class taught me what acting truly is and the level of commitment it requires. I started to discover my deeper truths, what actually matters to me and affects me, and learn to accept them without judgment. I had to open up and care about people so they could affect me. Then, I learned to be vulnerable in giving them back my true feelings, instead of suppressing or avoiding like I tend to do. Suppressing an emotion doesn’t make it go away, and speaking from that emotional place is usually more powerful. Getting straight to the truth can save a lot of time and rumination, and I’m still working to be more honest in my artistic and non-artistic life. I realized the necessity of confronting and experiencing “big” feelings in order to be an artist. It can seem scary at times, but it’s also rewarding and cathartic and should become our norm. I tend to be obsessed with finding the “correct” thing to do, but I learned there is no right or wrong in art, just good and bad, and we need to find our individual truths to be good artists. This training has helped me begin to feel more and think less, to not do what I *think* I’m supposed to do, but do what is instinctual and truthful to me. I’m grateful I went through this year with a group of amazing people, who I learned a lot from through rehearsals and watching them present in class. Ranjiv upholds a high standard, pushing us to be our best and building our dedication that is needed to grow as artists.”

“Studying at the Sanford Meisner Center reshaped how I understand acting and my place within it. When I entered the program, I thought I had clarity around what acting was and why I wanted to pursue it. The work challenged that entirely. Through this training, acting stopped being something I performed and became a way of engaging with the moment truthfully and how I command my energy. I learned to let go of habits, expectations, and self-consciousness, and to trust what was actually happening. That shift changed not only my work, but how I move through the world.

As a second-year graduate, I leave with a deeper sense of confidence and grounding in my craft. The training demanded patience, vulnerability, and honesty, and in return it gave me a strong foundation built on listening and connection rather than performance. What I carry forward is a clear understanding of what truthful work feels like and the discipline to return to it. I feel prepared to step into the industry with intention and a a lifelong dedication to my craft.”
